Available in most supermarkets, Clamato juice is essentially the same as the tomato juice you use to make bloody marys, only with the addition of, as its name implies, clam juice. Don’t be squeamish — we promise it doesn’t taste like seafood. Instead, the addition of the clam juice adds an extra punch of umami, sure to elevate your favorite brunch cocktail. The juice is also great in a michelada, a refreshing Mexican drink made with beer, lime juice, spices and clamato juice, served preferably in a chilled, salt or Tajín-rimmed glass. Or, simply have it on its own, served over ice topped with a squeeze of lime and a few drops of Maggi seasoning.
