As a reformed backpacker, I will always appreciate the ease of carrying my belongings on my body and not dragging them behind me through crowds, on cobblestone streets, through puddles — you get the picture. This week we recommend trying a travel backpack (they aren’t just for hiking and camping!) as opposed to a suitcase on wheels. You’ll be amazed at how mobile you are. And, as an added bonus, they can usually pass as carry-ons, saving you both money and time at the airport.
The Kelty Redwing 50 is a great starter pack. It’s versatile, affordable, not too big but not too small, and, most importantly, can be both loaded from the top or fully unzipped for a more suitcase-like experience.
